March Update

There a number of items which SEMLA should like to draw your attention to. Please ensure that the relevant members within your club are aware.

Player Registration

All clubs are reminded that any player who is not a registered member of English Lacrosse is not eligible to play in any SEMLA competition. You can register at the English Lacrosse Registration page. On match days, captains should ask their opposition for evidence of their players' registration, with sanctions for non-compliance in force. All registered members of English Lacrosse can download an individual registration card to print out and bring to fixtures via the ELA's registration portal.

Club Welfare & Safeguarding Officers

All lacrosse clubs must now have a Welfare & Safeguarding Officer on their club committee. English Lacrosse's National Lacrosse Committee (NLC) has ruled that all clubs, regardless of the age profile of your membership, must. You can view a role description for the club officers, but if you have any questions about this please contact Peter Rawsthorne, SEMLA's representative to NLC.

Payment of SEMLA fees

A number of clubs' SEMLA fees for the 2016/17 season remain outstanding. As of 6 March, Bournemouth, Epsom, Canterbury Christchurch, Cheltenham, Warwick University and London University had not paid their fees for this season. Please contact Miles Whittle, SEMLA Treasurer, to arrange payment of these fees.

Bath Eights 2017

This year's Bath Eights event is being held on Saturday 2 September, with registrations now open for this via the Bath website.

SEMLA Sixes 2017

The 2017 SEMLA 6s event is being held at the Ibis Sports Club, Reading on Saturday 22 April. See the Sixes page for more information and entry forms.

SEMLA Fixtures Secretary

Jon Cooper has diligently served as Fixtures Secretary for SEMLA for many years, and is stepping down from the position at the end of the 2016/17 season. As such, SEMLA are looking to recruit a new volunteer to take on the Fixtures Secretary role to support the delivery of the leagues across the South. Please contact Jon if you are interested in getting involved and have any questions about the role.

South Trials

Trials for the South representative squad attending the Nick Kehoe Trophy (previously British National Championships) are being held on Sunday 26 March at Hillcroft Lacrosse Club. The day will run from 11:30 - 15:00, with a fee of £5 per player for attendance. Please contact Rob Clark, South Manager if you have any questions about the trials.

Please get in touch if you have questions about the above or anything else.
