Lacrosse lost an icon on 17th January 2025 with the passing of our long term Secretary, Honorary Life Member, Stalwart of Centurion Lacrosse Club - Peter Mundy.

Peter was born on the 14th May 1929.

His playing career started at Purley Lacrosse Club at the age of 20 in 1949 and he stayed there until 1964, when he left to launch the revival of Croydon Lacrosse Club. After his playing career, Peter would be standing on the touchline in all weathers supporting his club

Peter was President of SEMLA from 1974 to 1976, President of the English Lacrosse Union from 1991 to 1993 and European Lacrosse Federation President from 1995 to 2012.  Throughout all this time Peter was an ever present and truly active at many committee meetings always encouraging and enthusiastic about development of the sport. He regularly attended SEMLA monthly meetings, representing the Centurions Club, his last being in April 2022, at the ripe of age of 93 years.

A Guide To The Development Of Lacrosse, by Peter Mundy

The growth of lacrosse in Europe can possibly be put down to one person - Peter.  From his 1988 tour to Czechoslovakia and throughout his time his passion was to encourage growth and development and shared his enthusiasm and passion with practically anyone who would listen.

He published a book entitled "A Guide To The Development Of Lacrosse" which became the blueprint for many a lacrosse programme across Europe.

Quietly spoken, but hugely driven this gentleman of the sport can be proud of his influence on the growth of the sport in England, Europe and the World.

Many of us around the game have fond memories of Peter and have no doubt shared many a conversation with him, influencing you in his quiet and knowledgeable style. A unique and devoted servant to our sport whose impact will last forever.
