School
Various forms of lacrosse are played as part of the school PE curriculum and/or as extra-curricula activities.
Pop Lacrosse is the form of lacrosse played in primary schools typically up to and including school Year 6.
An alternative format is Pinball Lacrosse, using more realistic sticks, suitable for all ages.
Secondary schools (Years 7-11) can play various formats of lacrosse with various type of lacrosse stick.

Pop Lacrosse (U10)
Pop Lacrosse is the form of lacrosse played in primary schools typically up to and including school year 6.
Pop lacrosse is a fast-paced non-contact version of lacrosse. Played with 5-a-side mixed gender teams. The equipment required is;
- Plastic-headed pop lacrosse sticks
- Soft pop lacrosse balls (tennis balls can be also be used)
- Small 3' x 3' pop-up netted goals

Pinball Lacrosse (U10+)
The step-up from pop lacrosse using under-size strung 'real' lacrosse sticks with soft lacrosse balls.
The feel of scooping, throwing and catching is the same as with senior/adult sticks, but designed for the youth player.
Field Lacrosse (U12+)
The step-up from pinball lacrosse using youth sized 'real' lacrosse sticks, introduction stick and body checking, helmets and gloves, and regulation hard lacrosse balls.
At the U12 level games are played as both 6-a-side and 8-a-side. The National U12 championships are played as 8-a-side. As player groups reach the U14 and U16 age groups they also may start playing 10-a-side games on regulation sized pitches.

Senior Lacrosse (from 16 years)
Senior (adult) lacrosse is available to those aged 16 and over. Competitive leagues and competitions run across three different formats of the game.
- Field Lacrosse. The traditional format played 10-a-side in regional club leagues and at many universities in the BUCS competition
- Box Lacrosse. A faster and more physical 6-a-side format played within an enclosed arena. Short-season leagues run over the winter and late spring.
- Sixes Lacrosse. A faster format of field lacrosse, played 6-a-side on a smaller pitch, and a sport for the 2028 Olympic Games. An annual national tournament called The Fly is our elite competition for sixes lacrosse.
